I met very often people who ”process" the situations superficially and listen to the conclusion or decision proposed by the mind that says ”this is not going to work, this is not good, you saw it came out wrong last time in a similar situation," etc. or ”this is going to work, as you did before and it worked, why wouldn’t it work now "etc.
Each of these people listens to something that is related to a past experience which overlaps a new situation from present. Is mind telling the truth, is the solution proposed by mind the most suitable for the situation that is supposed to be solved?
The mind does what knows best, which is to provide solutions from a ”database" of past experiences and comes with protective mechanisms which sometimes are quite exaggerated.
I'm not saying that the mind is not necessary (it would be absurd as it has its well defined role). However, for a person to be able to take the best decision in a given situation it is necessary to listen first to the intuition and then to the mind, to the logic of mind.
In other words, it is necessary that the mind and the intuition make a team and to work effectively one with another. Only this way the person can be thoroughly anchored in the present and identify exactly what has to be done in that situation.
In case you no longer want to take leadership over your mind and become its ”slave” while it would be the ”master", it would be handy to do a simple exercise of attention, which I call ”attention to distraction".
You will find out that, as the exercise becomes a new habit, your mind is calmer and ”no longer speaks all the time" while the intuition guides you in everything you do.
The mind is a wonderful tool if it is used correctly (says Eckhart Tolle in his book The Power of Now – a practical guide). But, used incorrectly, it becomes very destructive. ……………………… You think you're your mind.
It is an illusion. The instrument embraced you. THE BEGINNING OF FREEDOM is the understanding that you are not ”the thinker". When you start to observe the thinker, a higher level of consciousness becomes active.
Then you begin to realize that behind the thought there is a vast dimension of intelligence and that the thought is only a minuscule aspect of this intelligence … "
When the mind is silent the intuition speaks, and its source is the infinite intelligence that gives us the answers we are looking to our questions.
